Plein air painting affords untold opportunities to capture nature and beauty
with a personalized signature. Much of my inspiration comes from the water and
its environs. A goal is to try to capture the subtle and vibrant nuances of my
subjects by using color in a unique manner. For example, to depict the
uniqueness of the sky and water by using multiple shades of violet, yellow,
orange, and green, and to produce soothing, serene, and joyful paintings. I
approach painting with a boldness and a firmness of hand, trying to express my
zest of life through art. |

Education:
I am a N.J.native. I received a BS from Boston University and an MA from
Columbia University, both degrees with majors in Speech Pathology.
Professionally, I have worked in a private practice and taught on the college
level. After retiring from Speech Pathology, my goal was to fill the walls of
my home with art work that I created. That goal has been fulfilled and
painting is a wonderful gift I give myself. I have studied with Dorothy Young,
Leona Sherwood, Joseph Melancon, and Jim Ferrier, and I have progressed from
learning how to hold the brush and how to use paint with the encouragement of
these teachers and fellow artists. I will never cease to be amazed by what can
be created on a blank canvas!
